MARTHA LLOYD CALDWELL (Thomas, Henry Jr., Henry Sr., David) MARTHA LLOYD b. 1818 Huntingdon county. Pa. (a) Married Jan. 8, 1835 WILLIAM3 CALDWELL. William b. August 29, 1807, Porter Twp. Huntingdon Co., Pa.(b) He settled in Birmingham, Huntingdon Co. and there the family lived until his death, though this town must have been i n what became Blair Co. by 1850. At the time of his death, there were five sons and three daughters living. Parents' names, DAVID and REBECCA (Dean) CALDWELL. ISSUE MARTHA CALDWELL m. Mr. BUTLER and lived in Erie, Pa. CATHARINE “ b 1835, m. Mr. BUDD & lived in East Tyrone, Pa. DAVID T. “ b 1837, m. Miss CUNNINGHAM & lived E. “ “ THOMAS “ b 1839, never married. JOHN “ b 1848 MARY “ b 1849 ANCESTRY of WILLIAM3 CALDWELL (David2, Robert1) ROBERT1 CALDWELL b. 1732. and d. in 1799. (d). Robert Caldwell and his brother CHARLES were bom in county Derry, Ireland, of Scotch parents, came to this country an d settled in Juniata Valley in 1775. They were the first white men to bring their families to live in this area. Mrs . ELIZABETH CALDWELL. wife of CHARLES, used to tell her grand nephew DAVID, many tales of the early days, - one of a fr iendly Indian who came to warn them of another tribe which were on the war path, and would arrive there by a certain da y for a big massacre. He begged herto leave immediately, so she began to get ready, when her husband came home. The y packed all they could and went across the river to Robert's home, and they all went to Ft. Lytle, and were safe whe n the Indians arrived on the very day. Both Mrs. Charlesand Mrs. Robert Caldwell died in 1821,(d) Robert1 made a will dated Sept. 8, 1790 and on Oct. 19, 1799 he devised his lands by lines run and settled in his lifet ime, to his three sons. He died that fall, and was buried in the old Hartslog Graveyard near Alexandria, Pa. Executors were David Caldwell & George Wilson. (d) ISSUE DAVID2 CALDWELL b. May 8, 1762. d. April 28, 1813. (h) WILLIAM2 " b. Aug. 20, 1765. To Pickaway Plains, Ohio SAMUEL2 " b. m. Nov. 2B, 1797 MARGARET, dau. MATTHEW DEAN(f) MARGARET CALDWELL, eldest dau. m. a Mr. THORLTON. To Knox Co., Tenn. Died 1807. JANE2 CALDWELL. m. JAMES THOMPSON, went to Knox Co., Tenn. Living in 1808. ISABELLA2 CALDWELL b. Nov. 20. 1758. m. THOMAS COALMAN. Died Huntingdon Co., Pa. MARJERY2 CALDWELL m. GEORGE WILSON. She d. winter of 1838-39. MARY2 CALDWELL m. JAMES WILSON, and died 1808. DAVID2 CALDWELL b. May 8, 1762. d. April 28, 1813 Married Jan. 13, 1789 REBECCA DEAN.(f) This couple were communican ts of Hartslog Presbyterian church. (h) REBECCA DEAN b. 1770 and died about 1834. She was the daughter of MATTHEW DEAN of Canoe Valley, and was one of the fou r children "of Matthew who were with him in the cornfield at the time his wife and the rest of his family were murdere d by the Indians in 1780. These four with their father, fled to Lytele's Fort. David2 was a major in the Perm. State Militia and commonly called “Major David" to distinguish him from a cousin David , son of CHARLES1 who was a captain. David was active in public affairs of that date, and a member of Hart's Log Presb yterian church whowas elected one of a committee of three to direct the private expenses of the congregation. Later h e was an Elder.(b) ISSUE ROBERT3 CALDWELL b. Sept. 9. 1790. Vet. of War of 1812. Capt. Capan's Co. d. Huntingdon Co., leaving 2 sons and 3 dau ghters. JOHN CALDWELL SAMUEL3 " b. Nov. 27. 1793. m. May 16, 1826. MARY CRYDER. Mary d. April 18, 1835. They lived near Altoona, Blair Co.Pa BETSY3 CALDWELL b. May 4, 1796. m. May 3, 1814 WILLIAM JOHNSTON. DAVID3 " b. Mar. 21, 1803. m. Oct. 2. 1828 SARAH MARTIN. She died ca. Mar. 1881. REBECCA CALDWELL3 b. Mar. 2. 1805. m. ELIAS HOOVER. To Williamsburg, Blair county, Pa. MATTHEW3 CALDWELL who may be the Matthew found in Miami Co., Ohio. in the 1810 tax list. Matthew & brother Samuel ha d farm and houses. This land is now in Piqua.(g) MARGARET3 CALDWELL b. Oct. 31, 1800. m. a LYTLE of Alexandria, Pa. No children. WILLIAM3 CALDWELL b, Aug. 20, 1807 Porter Twp. m.
