(a) Mr. Bromley says it was March 30, 1891.(g) Married Feb. 4, 1847 MARY BARR (b). Mary b. Sept. 28. 1824. (g) Parents' names - WILLIAM BARR b. ca. 1790, Pa. near Parkersville, Chester Co., and ANN GLENDENNING b. 1793 near Octorro ra Church Chester Co., Pa. (g) They lived in Blairsville, Indiana Co. The 1850 census of Blair Co. gives Mary's age as 24, and lists Alexander as a merchant, b. Pa. age 24. Africa's Histor y of Blair County gives quite a long sketch of Alexander and mentions his brother WILLIAM, and an uncle JAMES MOORE, wh o was a son of WILLIAM MOORE of Woodcock Valley. The Moore family settled there as early as 1730. This account says " at the age of ten Alexander left home to live with his uncle, James Moore whose home was in Woodcock Valley......."(c) "Alexander Lloyd in 1854 opened a hardware store in Hollidaysburg with himself in charge. He built the Chimney Rock fu rnace and managed this business until 1859 when depression in iron trade came and he closed. He organized the firm o f LLOYD & CO. and with his brother THOMAS, ran a canal transportation business. Thomas was the agent in Pittsburg, an d he in Hollidaysburg. They trans-shipped freight for Pa. R.R. Later this firm dissolved and he ran the produce commis sion and warehouse business himself in Hollidaysburg. In 1868 he took C.C. WRIGHT in with him. At the outbreak of th e Civil War he was captain of a local Co., "Juniata Rifles." He took them to Harrisburg where they were added to the t hird Regiment of Pa. Volunteers, Co. H. They occupiedYork and Chambersburg. In 1862 he resigned and came home, and i n 1864 was appointed provost marshall of the 17th Congressional District and served until the war closed." (c) He wa s Captain of Co. H. 3rd. Pa. Infantry, (d). Alexander M. Lloyd was county Treasurer, Republican, and Director of the First National Bank in Altoona. When his brot her HENRY died in 1879 he became President of Founders of Coalport Lumber Co. He was very active in the Masonic Lodge , (c) Juniata Rifles was organized Oct. 22, 1858 with Alexander as Capt. (e) In Dec. 1865 the Hollidaysburg Male & Fe male Seminary Association was formed. Alexander was named in this list. (e) He was the first teacher of the Judson Bible Class, first organized adult Bible Class in America. Alexander was an out standing man in business and public life. The first meeting of this class was held May 7, 1843. He taught until his d eath on March 31,1892. The Judson Class was still going in 1936. (e) ISSUE ANNA ELIZABETH6 LLOYD b. Nov. 4, 1847. d. April 26, 1891(a) Her name is on her father's monument in Hollidaysburg, Pa. M r. BROMLEY says Catharine was indeed a daughter of ALEXANDER, and added that "she died of Consumption" - that dreaded d isease that killed so many in the formative days of our country. Jan 18. 1875 JOHN REILLY.(f) Mr. Reilly was superintendant of the Pa. R.R. and a former member of Congress.(c) A scrapbook in the library in Hollid aysburg gives John Reilly as the bridegroom. They lived in Philadelphia.(d) Son. GARRETT LLOYD REILLY m. RUBYANN MOLLER. GARRETT REILLY and RUBYANN had a daughter, ANN REILLY. b. Oct. 3. 1917 in Philadelphia. She d. 1967 in Wayne, Pa. Married BROOKS BROMLEY, b. July 1914 in Philadelphia. Brooks d. Feb. 22, 1956 in Scotland. Buried in St. David's Pa . Brooks Bromley was the son of CHARLES S. BROMLEY and ANNA BROOKS.
