Shared note
Was a charter member of the St Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Elroy, WI. (See more on the church under Gustav Sc hauer.) Christopher & Marie Schauer were invited to live in Elroy by Fred Schauer, who had purchased 40 acres for them . After Christ died and buried in Elroy, Marie returned to Milwaukee where her relatives lived. She took in washing & c leaned houses for people to make a living for her family. Her children all worked at age 14 in factories.
