Phoebe McCrary was the daughter of Boyd McCrary and Nancy (Anna) Merrill, born about 1779 or 1780. She married Thomas B urton prior to 1799, and they were the parents of William Burton. It is believed that Thomas Burton died in North Carol ina circa 1802 to1804. After his death, she remarried Zebulon Brevard, Jr. The family relocated from North Carolina t o Miami County, Ohio, in November 1816. Various genealogy records indicate that she was the mother of Thomas Brevard, a nd that he was born in 1803 or 1804, although it is also possible that Thomas was the son of Zebulon and his first wife , Isabelle Edmiston. However, the 1880 History of Miami County states of Phoebe and Zebulon: they had one child, Thomas . She is buried at Lewis Cemetery (a.k.a. Salem Cemetery) in Lostcreek Township, Miami, Ohio. |
