He died on the voyage probably not far from Nova Scotia. In 1839, a landsurveyor, named Alfonso Wells, brought word t o the Canadian Knowltons that he had found an ancient head-stone there bearing the name of William Knowlton, and the da te of 1632.According to tradition, William's widow proceeded to Mass, probably first to Hingman, then to Ipswich. |
